Peach Cobbler Disaster

So, tonight I decided to make my peach cobbler...yeah, pretty sure it ended up being a disaster this time. Evidently, the first batch didn't like the oven too much. About ten minutes into it cooking, I smelled something burning, and took a look in the oven to see what was up. Well, my eyes were met first by a cloud of smoke (which is always a bad sign), then by batter spilling over the pan and all over the bottom of the oven. This lovely mess took me an hour to clean up! Not too much fun, but hey at least the oven is clean now! Round two produced much more desirable results:
Although it's past 9:00 and almost time for bed (and I NEVER eat this time of night), I can't wait for it to cool down so I can have some! The smell is too much to resist!!

Exciting Week Ahead!

I am so so SO excited for this week! First of all, it's the Fourth of July this weekend, which is ALWAYS fun, and second, my baby brother is coming down Thursday morning to spend four fun-filled days with us! We're planning on going to Seven Peaks, Hiking the Y (yes, crazy, I know...this will be my second time doing it...but at an eight year old's pace this time! Unlike last, where I practically ran up the mountain in 20 minutes!), not to mention all the things you do on the Fourth! I cannot wait! I've already gone and gotten David's two favorite foods just for himself: Ramen noodles and asparagus...what a meal combination! Then, come Monday, Mike and I are going with his family up to Island Park for a week to wakeboard at Henry's Lake, do the Yellowstone thing, go to the Playmill theartre, ride dirt bikes, and more! THEN, after that, we get to spend a few days at my parents before coming back to Utah! Seriously, the fun can't start soon enough!!

Life is Like a Merry-Go-Round...

Last week was pretty crazy...to put it simply. By time Friday night rolled around, I had reached my limit. I called my mom, venting about various things that happened, and how things just never seem to slow down or let up. As we talked, she told me this:

"Remember when you were little, waiting in line for the merry-go-round? You always try to find the prettiest horse to ride, and hoped you would get it before someone else did. When someone else did get that horse, you would have to settle for what seemed like a lesser horse. But, as the ride started, all of the sudden the horse you were on didn't seem any less beautiful than the one you didn't get. Life is like that. We tend to always look at someone else's "horse" and think it is better than ours. However, as life goes on, your horse somehow becomes the most beautiful to you. The other horse doesn't have the appeal it used to. And life, just like a merry-go-round, has its ups and it's downs. But you've just got to sit back and enjoy the ride, no matter how hard it may be."

I am so grateful for a wonderful mom who knows how to put things into perspective! If we always think someone else's lot is better than ours, we can never learn to be happy with what we have! And, just because their "horse" may appear to be better, doesn't mean it is.

Although it has been a rough couple weeks, I am glad Mike and I have had those experiences because we have been drawn closer to each other in ways we haven't been before. Although it hasn't easy, I've realized that things will all work out in the end. No matter what trials we pass through, we've just got to say, "Come what may, and love it!"

SYTYCD

So, I pretty much LOVED last night's So You Think You Can Dance show! It was one of the best episodes I have seen so far! I am so excited for this year's Top 20 it's insane! One of my favorite dances though, was Caitlin and Jason's Bollywood routine. I didn't think Caitlin was going to be a standout, but I was proven wrong! I was in shock over how difficult this choreography was and how she and Jason nailed it! Pretty sure I have watched it five times today already! And, the kiss at the end was fun to watch too haha. Their reactions were classic. Bottom line - I am a big fan of these two! Of course, along with Brandon, Philip, and Randi!!

You can watch Jason and Caitlin's Bollywood dance here.
