Christmas break is NOT long enough!

It's official. I am FINALLY feeling better! I got sick the weekend of Thanksgiving with a nasty infection, and it has FINALLY cleared up. I am sooo happy about it too. I don't think I have ever gone a period where I've been so sick for so stinking long! Gotta admit, it's nice to be back. A month of not feeling well enough to go to over half of my last few classes, then finals on top of it was not a good mix. And may have easily contributed to the fact I bombed my chem final (still waiting on my final grade). Hopefully I can stay feeling better!!

I wish we got another week of break. Seriously, I do. Once January starts up, I'm looking at going to school for almost six months straight with no real breaks. I mean, we have  two 3 day weekends during winter semester, and a few days break in-between winter and spring term, but other than that it's nothing but school. Ugh. This is the time of year I really wish BYU would be more reasonable with some of their policies - specifically when it comes to spring break. It gets really hard come April to finish out strong, let alone continue on through the next term with no break - literally. It kinda stinks. I just have to keep reminding myself I'm almost done! Next April I will be graduated and not have to worry about crazy BYU policies! I'm grateful to get such a good education for such a low price, don't get me wrong, but I don't agree with a lot of their policies. Would it be that hard to give us a small break like they do for Thanksgiving for winter semester? Sigh. Oh well. In the meantime, I may go take yet again another nap!

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Christmas break is officially amazing. Love being with family, love the Christmas feeling, love no homework, love spending LOTS of time with Mike, and love catching up on much needed sleep! We are so excited for Christmas morning it's hard to wait! I will have to do a post later on why we are so excited...anyway it's time for dinner! Ciao!

This is homework!

This whole thing right now with there's no homework is really weird.. Good, but weird. I keep telling myself to enjoy it, but at the same time, I keep feeling like I need to do more Chemistry! Haha, I'm just too programmed! What am I ever going to do when I finish my chem classes next semester? I guess I can always keep my textbook and use it as leisurely reading!

I can't wait to see my family tomorrow! I have a feeling it's going to be a great Christmas - for lots of reasons...can't say why yet. ;) That will come later! As for now...back to the million things I need to pack for break...

First Apartment

I figured since we're going to be moving soon, I would post some pictures of the apartment we're living in right now! It's been a great starter place, but where we'll be moving to is newer, nicer, virtually same square footage, and CHEAPER. :D So, we're pretty excited about it. Best part is, we get to stay in our ward! Here's a view toward the dining area and entry way:

View of the kitchen:

Now for the guest bedroom/office, which is currently filled with packing stuff:

And, our bedroom..

As some of you may have noticed, this was one of those days I was cooking up some deliciousness in the kitchen...hence the kitchen aid being out. Here's what it was:

Yes, those are huckleberry cinnamon rolls. And were they ever delish!

Four down, none to go!

Christmas break has officially begun! I took my last final today! Fortunately, I redeemed myself from complete failure by flying through my last two no problem.. I was going to take my anatomy exam tomorrow, until I learned all I needed to get was a C- in order to keep my A in the class haha. Needless to say, I got a B+ on it, just after studying only an hour and a half! It would have been super easy to get an A, but I figured I wasn't going to stress about it at all, seeing as how I could practically fail and still end up with an overall A.. So nice to see a class that I worked my butt off for the entire semester finally pay off! Surprisingly Anatomy was easy for me! A lot of memorizing, but after having Anat and Phys for basically two years in high school, it was all one big review for me for the most part! It was such a FUN class! I'm sad it's over! That's okay I guess up, Physiology 305, and Functional Anatomy 400...and LOTS more anatomy in-between! Best part - only two chemistry classes (aka one semester) left and three semesters to go till graduation (plus a spring term this year)! It's going to be an exciting road.

In the meantime, I'm going to just enjoy being absolutely, completely, and totally lazy tonight, and not feel guilty about it in the slightest! It's high time!!!

Finals can be...frustrating.

I have a bone to pick with my chem teacher about his final. A BIG one. I took this beast of an exam today, and was feeling pretty confident as I walked in, because for one I have dominated pretty much every exam up to this point, and I had studied my BUTT off for this final, and know the material really well. Well, not only did it take me almost 4 hours to finish, but it was a next to impossible test. Some of the questions were unlike anything I had ever seen in any of our homework, previous exams, or study materials (which we were told to go over again, and if we didn't have a problem with them the final would be fine...haha funny.). Yeah, needless to say, when I saw my score on the screen, I was furious. All that studying all semester felt like it amounted to nothing. And when I say I studied like crazy, I mean this is the class that I have by FAR studied for the most the entire time I've been at BYU. So frustrating when you do great in a class, then the professor makes the final ridiculous. AHH!! So, for now I'm chowing down on chocolate and diet coke, and gearing up for my last two finals, which I know I'm going to do good in (thank goodness) because it's anatomy and New Testament.. In the meantime, I really wish I could give my professor a piece of my mind...

Be More Explicit

I feel like this with Chem right now. I'm tired of having to write down a million steps with chemistry brain is telling me to stop with the Chemistry I'm listening to it! Two days straight of staring at chemical equations and what not really jumbles your mind. You should see the mess that the dining table has become - I feel like I am buried by a mile deep pile of chem papers! This evening I reached a point where I would just stare at the practice problems I was doing. The one that got me was:
"If the vapor pressure of a solution is 348 mmHg at STP, how much non-volatile solute is present in a sample of the solution which contains a total of 1.00 mole of molecules (solute plus solvent) if the molar mass of the solute is 60 g/mol and the vapor pressure for the pure solvent at 273 K is 396 mmHg? Assume the solute and solvent are both non-electrolytes." I've done problems like this a million times, but this time I just looked at it and the thought ran through my mind, "I REALLY don't care what the stupid mass of the solute is present. It's not like it's a life or death situation, so why should I care?"

I just wish I could take the test already and just be done with it! Well, at least I'll be done come Monday afternoon! I hope all the studying pays off...

One More Semester....of Chem.

I cannot wait to be done with Chem this semester! It's an ok class, just a TON of work, and it's not exactly my favorite subject. Thank goodness I only have ONE more semester left! Bad news...that means TWO chem classes next semester. A three hour lab for one class (107) and then the other that has lecture three times a week and a lab (106). All for only four measly credit hours.. Sigh. I guess on the bright side, I found out I no longer have to take O-chem! So, I guess one more semester of two classes really isn't too bad. Now if only I had my physics classes done...ugh.

I am STOKED about Christmas this year! I seriously wish it was tomorrow! It can't come soon enough! This is the most excited I have been about it since probably grade school (is what my mom and dad told me about Santa true?). ;-) 25 reasons why I'm so excited:

1. It's our first Christmas as 'newlyweds' (if you can even call us that anymore haha)
2. Spending a week with my family
3. Orange rolls. 'Nuff said.
4. Dad's turkey stuffing
5. Dad's gravy
6. Watching my siblings open presents
7. No school
8. Going to bed at 3:00 Christmas Eve
9. Waking up at 6:00 Christmas morning
10. Celebrating the birth and life of our Savior.
11. No school
12. Taking a LONG nap Christmas Day
13. Spending time with Mike
14. Doing nothing just because you can
15. No school
16. Seeing Ellie!!!
17. *SnOw*
18. Catching up on LOTS of missed sleep from finals
19. Did I mention no school??
20. Taking time to finally let go and ~*~ReLaX~*~
21. Shopping after-Christmas sales!
22. **NeW yEaRs**
23. Midnight kiss on New Years' Eve
24. Celebrating one-year anniversary of Mike's proposal (Dec. 27)
25. Being with my amazing FaMiLy!

I could go on and on as to why I'm excited. But for now this will have to suffice. :)

Anatomy Class

So, pretty sure it's bitter-sweet that Anatomy is almost over. Lab is over, which is nice (one less class to study for), but at the same time I'm going to miss having something to laugh over for a few days!! Anyway, in lecture this last week, we were going over the reproductive system, and there were a lot of funny quotes by my teacher and a movie we watched:

Rachel's response to a question:
Student: What about those girls who have menstrual periods every few weeks?
Rachel: "That comes from those freaks of nature crazy fertile people."

Rachel talking about why when girls are roommates get on the same cycle:
"The girl that emits the strongest pheremones WILL control everyone else. That girl controls the other roommates' menstrual cycle. It's BIZZARE!"

Rachel talking about the layers of the uterus:
"The endometrium is magical. It gets REALLY big REALLY fast."

Rachel talking about breast-feeding:
"The areola is dark so babies, who have poor eyesight, have a target. It if wasn't dark, they couldn't find it!"

Rachel talking about hysterectomies:
"Hyster- means "crazy" and -ectomy means "to cut out." So, hysterectomy literally means "to cut out the crazy"!"

A movie clip talking about fertilization of an egg:
"Once a month, a woman picks an egg to lavish with attention."
"We all consider sperm to be brave little warriors making their way through hostile terrain."

You should also seriously hear some of her stories. Once that I found kind of funny was when she was in college, she decided to hitch-hike all the way up to Alaska (RANDOM!). At one point, she found herself in the back of a hunter's pickup, with a freshly shot elk. So, she decided to check the insides out, and ended up poking around by its lungs. She thought "it was the coolest thing EVER, because the texture was amazing." That was what got her so intrigued with human anatomy - an elk's lungs. She has even had people bring her placentas after a birth, and she loves it! She also has a picture of arbor vitae, a tree-like arrangement of gray matter in the cerebellum of the brain, in her apartment, and apparently people think it's really cool looking. What she thinks is funny is they "have NO idea they are actually looking at a part of the brain."

I love my anatomy class. I'm not sad about not having to study for it anymore, but I am sad about leaving all the fun laughs we get in lab and lecture...

Thanksgiving Break = whew!

Today I'm grateful that it's finally Thanksgiving break! Lots of food, fun, and family! This year is going to seem a little different for me, mostly because we're not with MY family this year - we're with Mikes. Definitely a change! But, it will still be good. Best part, we only have a week and a half of classes left! Then hello Christmas break! Booya!! I'll let you know if I make it through finals alive!

Bonus Points

Today I am grateful for even more "dumb mistake allowances" on Chemistry exams! My chem teacher told the class today that the average score was WAY lower than usual - so he gave us three more extra points! He did this because he though the test may have been written too hard, hence the low average (there were quite a few weird question). So glad he is so reasonable! :) I'm also grateful  that I only have one more semester of chemistry left!!

Sunday, November 22, 2009

I have a lot of catching up to do! We've been really busy the past few days, and haven't had time to update! So, here it goes!

Wednesday - I'm grateful for "dumb mistake" allowances on my Chemistry exams. The +9 points, which equates to 9%, saved my behind on this last one!

Thursday - I'm grateful that I had the chance to take anatomy this semester. It has been a tremendous testimony builder of the creation and resurrection for me. Our bodies are amazing. What was even more mind-boggling for me is to think we are created in the image of our Heavenly Father and he once was as we now are. The anatomy lab is not only a fun place to be, but also a very humbling place. Occasionally I have walked into there and felt the Veil remarkably thin. I am so grateful for my body!

Friday - I'm grateful my mom and I were able to go have a girl's night. She came down in the afternoon, and we went and did whatever we wanted the whole night! It was so nice to have so many much needed laughs! I love my mom!!

Saturday - I'm grateful we were able to go to the BYU football game with my mom, dad, Jacob, and David! It was a blast! Despite the cold, the game was so much fun! Thanks Mom and Dad for buying us tickets!

Sunday - Today I'm grateful for music. I love the power it can hole - especially Church music. When it feels like words cannot adequately express what I'm feeling, I often find music can. From Classical, to Piano, to Church, to Country, I am grateful for music.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Today I'm grateful for sleep. Really I am! I can't get enough of it - probably because I don't get enough of it! So when I do happen to get enough, it's FaBuLoUs!!  I'm starting to feel the typical end-of-semester-drag...aka going to bed late, waking up in just barely enough time to throw the hair back, pull on some clothes, and get to class, and assuming I haven't slept through the alarm, getting to class and then falling asleep in half of them, dozing off trying to do homework, you know how it goes! I've loved this semester, but at the same time am excited to have it end! Mostly because when it does not only will I only have 3 more semesters until graduation, but I'll also be able to catch up on sleep! YAY!! On that's time for bed...that is, after I finish my homework. :-S

Today I'm grateful for such an amazing husband! It has been one of those days he has me so incredibly giddy it's almost insane! I LOVE it though! He has been a nonstop romantic from the moment we woke up. It certainly reminds me of why I fell in love with him! I couldn't ask for anyone better to be by my side for eternity!

Make New Friends, But Keep the Old, One is Silver, and the Other Gold!

So, I've decided to do what Mary is doing...but mine will just be the two weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. :) Each day I'm going to name one thing (or several) that I'm thankful for!!

Tonight I'm very grateful for two things. I'm so grateful my best friend from grade school is living down here now! She and her hubby moved to Provo, and tonight we had a dessert night! I had so much fun catching up with her and meeting her sweetheart and introducing her to Mike! You would never know that it's been almost four years since we've seen each other! I seriously love Megan to death! When we get together, it's like no time has passed at all, and it's guaranteed that by time we say bye, my smiling muscles are tired!! I can't wait for the next time we do something together!! I'm so grateful to have a once-in-a-lifetime friend like her!!

I'm also grateful for our amazing branch. Church today was amazing. I have always loved our branch, but today was the first time I really felt like I belonged there. I love the feeling I get when I'm in Sacrament, and especially Relief Society! The friendships I'm making are ones I will always cherish! I'm so grateful for people who come up and ask if Mike and I are doing ok, and if there is anything they can do for us. It has amazed me how willing people are to go out of their way to make sure we are doing alright. The small acts the Elder's Quorum has done for us has been truly humbling for me. Whether it's coming over to give Mike a blessing, or just to talk, it has meant so much to both of us. We could not have asked to be in a better branch/ward! I do not think it was by accident we were led to live where we do. I am so grateful to be blessed with such an amazing and close-knit ward family!

Digestive System

So, today in my Anatomy lab, we went over the digestive system. It was quite fun actually...mostly because of our TA's remarks. I know we aren't supposed to make fun of body parts, but you could tell they couldn't help it. Here's some of the dialogue during one of our stations:

TA: "You have two sphincters around your anus, in other words your butt hole. You have an internal and external sphincter. Look at my hands. The hand with the black glove is your internal sphincter. The hole is your butt hole. The hand with the purple glove is your external sphincter. You will be VERY grateful for these come thanksgiving."
Student: "Is the internal sphincter the one that is involuntary?"
TA: "I think so. Your internal sphincter is the one that keeps you from sharting after Thanksgiving dinner."
Student: "Don't do it!"

At another station, we were going over the mouth and oral cavities and such. The TA, myself, and another guy are all married, and happened to be in the same group this time.
TA: "This is the tongue. You all know it, it helps you chew."
Married student: "And kiss!"
TA: "Yeah...(awkwardly looks at the married student and myself)...and it helps you kiss."

Student: "Is that a nerve?"
TA: "No, THAT would be your pee tube!"

My lab TA's are pretty much awesome!

So, I am really bored tonight. I tried to do homework, but my brain shut down earlier this afternoon. Plus, I was getting frustrated with Chemistry. So, I've just been messing around, and found this fun thing on facebook!

1. I LOVE watermelon. It's my favorite food. I have eaten a whole one in a day before.

2. I have sung 99 bottles of pop on the wall the whole way through - in 15 minutes!

3. I HATE waking up in the middle of the night needing to go to the bathroom, only to fall into the toilet bowl because someone left the toilet seat up!

4. I ate cat poop on my 1st birthday.

5. I have had a pillow fight in the car...with Ellie...and mom...while mom was driving.

6. During family reunions, all of the cousins would sleep in the same room. One year, we all slept in mine and Jada's room. I woke up in the middle of the night having to go pee SOOO bad!! I didn't want to wake everyone up, so I tried to climb over everyone. Well, I got disoriented and somehow ended back at my bed. So I tried again. (By now I had to go really really bad) I finally found a door after a few minutes of groping around in the dark. Relieved, I took a few fast steps forward, only to have my forehead hit the back of the closet door. After groping around for a few more minutes, I finally found the real door, and ran to the bathroom. Sadly, I was a little late getting there. Hitting my head on the closet wall had triggered the pee reflex. :S

7. Jayme and I tried to shock Mr. Patterson with a cattle prod during out TA hour in high school..

8. I used to sneak over to grandma's house when we were little to get string cheese when she was gone - I used the back door. If that failed, sometimes I would rummage through the cabinets to try to find candy mom was hiding. If I found any, then I would take it and run and hide until I had eaten it.

9. I HATED anything girly-girl when I was a I can't get enough of "girly-girl" things - especially heels and BLING!

10. I LOVE to straighten my hair. Mike likes it when I do it too. My baby brother HATES it.

11. I have played with sidewalk chalk at two in the morning. And had random roommate dance parties. And have gotten scared watching a scary movie - in the middle of the day.

12. I am a perfectionist, especially with school. I pout if I get below a 95 in some of my classes. Well, every class but Chemistry and Physics that is. Even then, I don't like to get below a solid B.. :)

13. Mike and I had a NCMO (non-committal make out session) while we weren't dating...true story. Now we just have VCMOs!

14. I am accident-prone. I broke my leg slipping on water, cut a 2 almost 3 inch gash on my shin while running, slipping, then hitting my shin on the running board of the suburban, burned my elbow on a hot stove while dancing around, broken two glass items in under an hour and a half, then broke our glass blender a few weeks later, had a glass pan explode on me, cut my thumb with a butter knife while trying to cut open a plastic pop bottle, sprained my ankle jumping off my roommate's back at a BYU volleyball camp (we were giving each other piggy-backs), need I go on?

15. I toilet-papered two people in one night with of them thought the person who had gotten them was the other person we got. Then, he finally put two and two together, and told me he was going to call the cops on me. Haha. Tanner had fun with that one ;)

16. One night when I was in kindergarten, Mom got mad at Jada and me because we wouldn't go to bed, and put us in time-out in our bedroom. I REALLY REALLY had to go poop but was afraid Mom would get mad at me for going downstairs to use the bathroom, so I strattled the space in-between my bed and Jada's bed...and went poop. Then, I thought Mom would get mad at me, so I picked it up, and put it down the vent that went straight down to the living room...where mom and dad were sitting watching tv...when Mom came storming upstairs, I blamed Jada for it. I fessed up only after Mom had spanked her.

17. I slammed Cody's head on the trunk door once. We were fishing in Island Park and was getting something out of the back, when Cody came around as I was finishing up, and I didn't see him. I went to close the trunk, and instead of it closing, it just bounced off his head, leaving a huge gash. That ended that fishing trip REALLY fast.

18. I was part of the mass crowd that stormed the football field at LaVell Edwards after we beat Utah 17-10 in 2007 in an AMAZING come-from-behind win.

19. I used to dress David and Cody up as girls when they were babies.

20. I liked to decapitate my barbies when I was little. Then I would get mad when their heads wouldn't go back on.

21. I hated sharing a bedroom with Jada when we slept in the same bed. She would always take the covers and wrap up in them, leaving me nothing. When I would pull them off she would get mad at me for "taking all the covers." But, I also hated it when we got a bunk bed. Especially when she had the flu. Jada slept on the top bunk, and one night, I almost got a spray of vomit in my face as she threw up over the side of the bed. It made me so mad!!

22. I have had a snowball fight inside before. At 1:30 in the morning.

23. I have only kissed three guys - Jesse, Drew, and Mike - I was determined to beat mom with number of guy's I've kissed. She said I couldn't do it and I did!! My three to her five!

24. I HATED the dress my mom made me wear at her and dad's wedding. It was HOT and ITCHY!! She said it was a cute dress, but to this day I don't care if it was cute or not - I hated it!

25. I am still bitter that Jonathan would scoop up the money and sit on it when Grandpa would throw a humbug at family reunions. I would get so mad that I would go and try to first shove him off his pile, then if that failed, scoop the money out from under his bum. The next year a rule was instituted that you couldn't sit on your money during a humbug.

26. I have danced on tables. And dropped a rat off at someone's apartment.

27. When Jen and I were roommates, we NEVER slept in our rooms. We would pull the mattresses out from the empty rooms into the living room and sleep out there...making it a big sleepover!

28. Conference weekend my freshman year (April) was AWESOME! A bunch of us went to my roommate's aunts house in Bountiful the night before, and being the good kids we are, the guys took downstairs, the girls upstairs. We had SO much fun! I don't think I have ever laughed as hard as the four of us girls did that night!

29. I tried to find where Mom hid the Christmas presents when I was little, so I could see what I was getting. Sadly, I never succeeded.

30. I have the most amazing, loving, kind, smart, and handsome husband in the world!

Peaks and Shadows

So, the more I have come to think of it, the more I realize how fitting my blog title is for Mike and me! Especially the quote by Elder Wirthlin, "Every life has peaks and shadows and times when it seems that the birds don’t sing and bells don’t ring. Yet in spite of discouragement and adversity, those who are happiest seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming stronger, wiser, and happier as a result."

We have certainly experienced a lot of those "peaks and shadows" together. But, we have certainly learned a lot, and continue to learn a lot from those experiences! I think if we hadn't gone through them together, what we're going through right now, with both of us being sick, would be a lot more challenging than it is. Swine flu or not, life is still good. :)

BYU Football

We had the opportunity to go to the TCU football game this weekend with Mike's parents. Although the game was a bummer, and Mike and I got sick from it, we still had fun (not to mention the food before the game was delicious)! We love doing things with his parents! They are amazing - the more we do things with them, the more I am coming to appreciate them more and more and realize how lucky I am to have such amazing in-laws!

I must admit, it kinda blows that TCU had to blow us out of the water for our homecoming game, AND that it had to happen when it was ESPN gameday in Provo, and that we dropped from the BCS rankings like a rock, but hopefully they will win when we go watch them play Air Force in November! Hopefully...

It was so much fun having Stav come for a visit! We had a ton of laughs!! It was sad to see her go, and we can't wait to see her again - hopefully in the near future!

Y Mountain in the background
We also went to Salt Lake and Nickelcade, but I'm having trouble uploading those pictures for some reason.. So I'll put them up as soon as I can!

Swine flu

I have the best husband - EVER. Anyone who says otherwise, bring it on! ;) No but seriously, I do. We happened to both come down with the swine flu this weekend, and through it all, Mike has made sure I'm the one that's okay, while not caring about himself. One evening he even carried me into bed from the couch because I couldn't even stand up, although he wasn't feeling well himself. Even though he has said doing small things like that has been not big deal, it has spoke volumes for me. Mike is so selfless, it never ceases to amaze me! It has certainly made me try to become more selfless. At least we're both on the upswing with this swine flu-ness though!

Today I keep looking at Mike in awe. I don't know how he does it, but he still makes me starstruck! He becomes more and more handsome every day. I love falling asleep with him by my side, knowing he will be there in the morning. I can't fall asleep anymore without a part of me touching him! We've taken to falling asleep holding hands the last few weeks, and waking up early so we can have a few minutes to just snuggle. I love how romantic Mike is! He is ALWAYS surprising me with flowers, notes, anything to brighten my day! Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve him he is so amazing!! I am so grateful he is my eternal companion! I couldn't ask for anyone better by my side!

Anatomy lab midterm is tomorrow and I'm so flippin nervous!! I am hoping my hours of studying/teaching other people in open lab will pay off!! Seriously, my mind has been swimming with anatomical terms and names the last week! Even when I am laying in bed trying to sleep I run thorough the things I think may trip me up (maybe that's why I haven't slept well lately!). I don't think I have EVER been so nervous for a midterm! :S Hopefully a little more review (especially with origins and insertions for muscles) tomorrow morning and I'll be ready to go! Hopefully...

The Best Two Years

So, Mike and I realized something kinda cool the other day - we've known each other over two years. We can't believe how fast time has flown! One minute I'm a star-struck freshman over this guy who I think is drop dead gorgeous and is "Mr. Darcy" whom I can't ever seem to get out of my mind (just as my roommates at the time - Heidi and Mary!), the next I find I'm married to that very same guy! And the middle of the story is literally a rollercoaster! And I'm STILL star-struck when it comes to him!! Even though the ride hasn't been smooth at times, I am so glad and grateful we had those experiences and were able to learn - and still learn - SO much from them! (Even if we hated them at the time.) Those experiences have certainly brought us closer to each other and to the Lord!

I must say, I'm glad I've known Mike for over two years - there isn't a whole lot we don't know about each other - in fact, there is almost nothing we don't know! Seriously though, Mike is amazing. Each and every day I'm awestruck over the kind of person he is, and I fall in love all over again. I have never met a man who is so compassionate, loving, caring, tender, full of integrity, and just all over amazing. How did I end up with him?!?! I could go on and on..

I'm also excited for what the future holds for us. Aka finishing school, starting a family, Mike's job, church, etc. I'm loving life right now, but I have the feeling there is going to be change in the wind soon - who knows what it could be! (For one, I only have 3.5 semesters left, so maybe that's part of it??) :S Regardless of what happens, I'm actually excited for whatever it is!

Oh, and in case you didn't catch on earlier - I'm STILL crazy in love with Mike! :D

Quick Update

I have been horrible at blogging lately! School has kept me insanely busy - I've decided my new home is officially the Benson building and Widstoe! ;) Honestly, besides school not a whole lot has happened. Mike is keeping busy as well with school and some work here and there. Here's a quick recap of the last month I guess!

-Went to Idaho to watch Idaho State Junior Miss program (and caught up with a few old friends while we were there!)
-Saw my grandpa, who recently had brain surgery done (he's doing as well as can be expected at this point)
-Finished the first round of midterm exams (I got a 97% on my Anatomy lecture midterm!)
-Went on a super fun double date with Analee and Kory
-School, school, and more school
-Oh yeah, and more school
-Stav came for a visit!
-Thinking of maybe, possibly changing my major?? Can't decide..
-Excited I'm halfway through all the chemistry classes I need to take (FINALLY!)
-And, gearing up already for the second round of exams coming next week. Hopefully I do as well on these as I did the last ones!

Well, that's pretty much life in a nutshell right now! Hopefully I'll have more time this week to tell about going to Jr. Miss, my crazily insanely fun anatomy class, and other odds and ends happening!

More wakeboarding!

Earlier this week we were able to go out on the boat on Utah Lake with Mike's parents after we were done with classes. It was such a nice break! I am finally getting my carving down better, as well as the pre-cursor stuff to jumping! Can't wait till I finally am able to get my timing down so I can clear the wake!

We hope we can make it out a few more times before the season ends! We have had a blast this year going! Not to mention it's a great break from school and homework!
Dave doing jumps with the kite. Not his highest ones that day, but still pretty nice!

August Island Park Trip

So, here are pictures from when we went up to Island Park two weeks before school started! This trip was much more enjoyable and relaxing for us than the last trip! :) We love going up there! My family was able to come up for a day again. This time the weather was MUCH better and we were able to spend most of the time out on the boat teaching the kids how to ski and wakeboard!

There he goes!
We can't wait to go up there again! Hopefully I'll be jumping next time too! And, of course I can't wait to try out the wakekite!

I love Huckleberries. We were able to buy a gallon of fresh Huckleberries on or way home from Island Park on Saturday (I'll write about that trip in the next post). It was an offer I could not pass up! First of all, someone did the picking for me, which is no easy thing, and secondly, you can't find them around Orem! Not to mention, even the thought of eating Huckleberries makes my mouth water and totally brings back memories of going Huckleberry picking with Grandma and Grandpa when I was little! At first, Mike wasn't too thrilled about spending $39 on it, but that changed once we got home and he tasted his first Huckleberry! I have made so many things with them, and all have been divine! Today though, I did my first batch of Huckleberry jam.Boiling the jamThe finished product! Pretty sure Mike LOVED the jam! He is still raving about it, and I am pretty proud of myself for having a successful canning session! :D After dinner, we had this AMAZING Huckleberry cake complete with Huckleberry frosting! I am planning on making it again! What can I say...we love Huckleberries!! Next on the menu..
Huckleberry milkshakes! YUMMY!!

Summer Fun

Sorry I haven't been the best with keeping things updated lately! Now that I have more down time (mostly because I'm stuck at home with a nasty round of Bronchitis right now), here are some of the fun things that went on in July after David left!

Bullock Family Island Park Trip
We were able to go up to the Island Park cabin the second week of July. It was a little weird for me to take a "vacation" in a place that is just an hour's drive north of Rexburg though! I grew up going fishing and camping up there on a regular basis, so it was nothing novel to me going up there, but it was still a ton of fun! We were able to do a lot of tubing, wakeboarking, wakekiting, and just enjoying having everyone together. My family was even able to come spend a day with us, which was a ton of fun! Here are some pictures of the week!

and Rob in and telling them, "Wow! You
were awesome!" (They told everyone that
even if you crashed on the wakeboard.) Little

We also celebrated our 6 month mark! I wasn't feeling too great, so we weren't able to go out and do much, but Mike disappeared for an hour and came home with these as a surprise! I love him!

Other than that, we have been busy doing what seems like this, that, and everything else! Our favorite thing to do to take a break from everything though is to go on a drive to Bridal Veil Falls! We seriously love it up there. It's so calming for both of us, and for some reason always stimulates great conversation between the two of us! We are enjoying doing whatever we want the next few weeks, because when school starts, it's going to be a whole other story!

So, we have packed the remainder of our summer with lots of fun stuff! Last week we went to Lagoon with my family, which was a blast! Mike is so much fun to watch on the rides! He seriously is like a little kid with his hand in the cookie jar while he is riding them! And of course I love the thrill as well!

On Wednesday, we're heading back up to the Island Park Cabin for a few days so we can get some good boating in again, then when we get back, we're planning on spending a few days up in the Park City cabin, just chilling and going to the Olympic Park and downtown Park City. Then, school beckons us on the 31st. Summer has come and gone way too fast! Although it's been a good break from school, we are excited to get back into the groove of things and get it done! The countdown begins to graduation (5 semesters left)! Woohoo!!
